A date with the kid

Is that a cute mug or what!? After all of the ballyhoo of the weekend of bands and retirement parties, I met my sister, Susie, in Beatrice, (halfway) to pick up Coco. I volunteered to dog-sit while Susie took a well earned vacation with Angie’s family and some friends. She had a wonderful time and so did we. Susie has her trained to sleep in! What a good idea!

I don’t know why we call her “the kid” but we do. We called Angie “the kid” when she was little. I don’t know why we did that either. It doesn’t sound very nice, does it? But we always meant it as a sign of endearment. And we always knew who we were talking about. Until Coco there was ever only one “kid” – Angie!

That first week in August was a scramble of catching up and resting. I have to admit that the business of those two wonderful weeks in July took a little toll on me. It was good to have Coco here to help get me off the couch. She is a scaredy-cat, so I don’t ever have to worry about her wandering off, but it also means that our walks are limited in distance and duration. Now, after delivering her back to my sister, I need to get back on the exercise bandwagon.

I am not accomplishing that sitting here at this computer. I just wanted to share a picture of the pup!

And, if Angie ever reads this, to say sorry if you didn’t like being “the kid” but you will always be my “first” kid! Sorry E.. And thanks for the Hamilton tickets. You are the best!
