WHEN YOU WIN THE PARTY

Two weeks have past since the spectacular weekend of Jose’s retirement party and the shower for Alex and Emily! I need to catch up with my posting! That fun and talented group of men in today’s photo comprise a bluegrass band who call themselves The Outfit. Ashton, Keaton, Jeff, Peter and Vaughn. Elizabeth and I decided we won the weekend because they stayed here with us.

They arrived on Thursday evening along with the majority of the 28th Street Gang, some out of town guests and barbeque! They gave us a little glimpse of their show right here in the living room. What fun.

Then there was the Zoo Bar FAC show on Friday which was also very enjoyable. It was a great party for Jose’ with his many friends joining in the fun.

On Saturday the band had a little lie in after a late night then I made them a breakfast omelet for the start of their busy day. They had another gig that afternoon and that evening and another late night. We went to the big shower to stock Alex and Emily’s bar. Some of us enjoyed sitting outside on the Mill patio. Elizabeth brought me home and then went down to listen to the band again afterwards. She said she had a great time talking with Cooper. It just makes me so happy that the S.28th Street kids are all so fond of each other still!

Gosh! Sunday was another busy day. We fed the band and sent them on their way then in the afternoon two more guests arrived! They were friends of Elizabeth who were traveling home to Colorado from a week of cycling around Iowa. One totally surprised the other with E. as the prize! And Mary Horn joined us as well. She just needed to get out of the house. It was good to have her here.

You know what? That evening when everyone was gone we did almost nothing. We laid around and watched two movies and went to bed! A perfect end to a perfect weekend.

E. left in the evening on Monday so I had her in the house for another whole day. We had little chats throughout the weekend. Some lighter, some heavier, touching base on the healing of our broken hearts as well as the day to day existence of our lives. All important stuff to cover when we get the chance. I had simitar conversations with Sean the week before. How we are healing? What concerns do we have? How can we make things even better between us than they are already? I hope I left them as satisfied as they left me.

As I was driving home from Omaha after letting E. off at the airport I couldn’t help but revel in the huge bold moon that practically lit my way. I even won the drive home! How’s that for a satisfactory end to a perfect weekend!
